The office of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies Assam is the Directorate under the administrative control of the Co-operation Department, Government of Assam. The Directorate is headed by a Senior I.A.S officer, who is assisted by two Additional Registrars of Coop: Societies, two Joint Registrars of Coop: Societies, three Deputy Registrars of Coop: Societies, one Statistical Officer, one F.A.O, a number of Assistant Registrars and Sub Registrars of Coop: Societies, Senior/Junior Inspectors of Coop: Societies supported by ministerial staff in the head office which is situated at Khanapara, Guwahati-22.
Further, for administrative convenience, the entire State has been divided into four (4) Zones headed by Zonal Joint Registrars of Coop: Societies in plains areas. The two autonomous Hill Districts have been placed under an Additional Registrar of Coop: Societies with H.Q. in Diphu and another Addl. R.C.S has been posted under B.T.A.D area with H.Q. at Kokrajhar. There are Deputy Registrars of Coop: Societies and Assistant Registrars of Coop: Societies in the Districts and Sub-Divisions respectively. There are 20 District Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies in 28 Districts and 39 nos. of Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies in 40 sub-divisions.
